DJAKOUT'S NIGHTMARE FESTIVAL GIG IN DOMINICA?
TI REGI (keyboardist) said that he had no regrets going because it
was a way to promote Djakout in another market (Dominicana), however
he was not a fan of how things went down in regards to the gig.
TI REGI: " I was in Boston. I went from Boston to West Palm Beach.
From there we went to Puerto Rico, we then stopped at Antigua, then
we finally landed in Dominica. From the airport to the stadium where
the festival was being held, it was an hour and a half drive. We
barely got time to get to the hotel before we had to run to the
stadium because we wanted to get there early to see the other
performances."
"We were supposed to play at 4 in the morning, a peak time hour for
that festival where a lot of people are still around usually, we
ended up playing at 6 in the morning towards the end of the show. By
then, most of the people were already gone. We would have preferred
to have played after Kassav, unfortunately they had other bands who
ended up playing after Kassav, and some of them actually played
quite a few songs. We were disappointed in the way that the thing
turned out, but in the process, we still gave a good show to show
the people in Dominica what Djakout is all about."
